Sunday Challenge
I have to write something that I’ve learn from the Sunday service I attended from the Church. I want to be comitted to this since its something worth sharing.
So, today VCF started a new series called Take Home. Its a 3 leg series talking about the component of a family and its duties. I personally believe that everything start with how your family raise you, it is the foundation of your character and your values.
1st week is about our Father or Husband to our mother. Being the head of the family means they are the one who Lead. They should be a servant leader and should not abuse their authority and turn to a dominant one. Instead they should Lead lovingly and lead sacrificially. Women our called to submit themselves to their husband but this doesnt mean that men are better than women. Mothers should trust and support their husband as they trust God. We have have to remember that God called Adam first and ask him to take care of his paradise.
Ephesians 5:23-27
New International Version (NIV)
23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26 to make her holy, cleansing[a] her by the washing with water through the word, 27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.
Love is a decision that you have to make regardless of external or internal factors that could attempt to influence the decision. This means that love is not an emotion that you feel when you are happy or you want to be with that someone. Love is a decision. You are making a decision that You will accept that person regardless of his/her flaws. Its a decision to stay with that person no matter what happen and decision to stand for that person. Nowadays we often forget to pray for Love. We often rely on our deceitful heart. I encourage every husband and young men not to be shaken and remain strong and courageous in every challenges for your are or about to be the HEAD of the Family.
Sacrifice is an act of giving up something valued for the sake of something else regarded as more important or worthy. Husband/Father should know how to sacrifice for their wives and for their children. They should know how to prioritize things. Their 1st priority should be God, then their wives, children and 3rd is their work and lastly their friends/affiliation.
I’d like to close with this verse which shows how God lead us lovingly and sacrificially.
1 John 3:16
New International Version (NIV)
16 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.
